Playing with sound is one way to alleviate boredom on my spacecraft. I found a dB meter and started measuring how loud they were. (a) I found two deafening pings that differed in loudness by 4.2 dB. What the ratio of the intensity of the louder sound to that of the softer one? (b) If one sound is 100 times as intense as another, by how much do they differ in sound intensity level (in decibels)?
