Why is the difference between the ground reaction force and the body weight equivalent to the net force acting on the person?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Normal force is the body weight equivalent force acting in the opposite direction of the body weight force(mg). It is perpendicular to the surface on which the object is residing.it keeps the body from falling through the surface.

Ground reaction force is the force exerted by the body on earth or ground. If a book is laying in a tabe then ground reaction force is the force exerted by book on ground not on the surface(table). This may be equal to normal force in some situations. But if the object is laying in an inclined plane then reaction force and normal force are different.Reaction force is explained by Newtons third law.

This is about a person attempting a jump. 1.) Why is the ground reaction force decreasing during the counter-motion period when the person is squatting down? 2.) The centre of mass position of the person is decreasing during the counter-motion period when the person is squatting down. Therefore the gravitational potential energy of the person is also decreasing. Where is this energy initially going to and why? 3.) The person eventually reaches a minimum in the postion of their centre...

When you walk normally, your front heel strikes the ground and there is a force on your foot from the ground which is a vector sum of normal force and friction force and is directed along your leg as shown. For a regular walk, your leg makes an angle of 30° from vertical and the normal force peaks at 1.1 times the body weight. For a person with a mass of 65 kg: a) What is the magnitude of the...
