Draw a right triangle, where two angles are 20 and 70 degrees. This is the prism used below, surrounded by air. A ray of light enters the prism on the side adjacent to the 20 and 90 degree angles. The ray of light is incident in that wall of the prism at an angle theta with the normal to that surface. Find the smallest angle theta for which a ray of light will undergo TIR on the hypotenuse of the prism. Notice that nprism = 1.69.
