What is the difference in behavior of a solid aluminum ring and an aluminum ring with a gap cut in it when placed on the core of a solenoid that has the current turned on? Why do you think this is?
when we turn on the solenoid magnetic flux linked with both the rings changes and due to lenz's law both the ring will try to oppose it because of which, an emf will be induced in both the rings. but because of this indiced emf current is induced in solid ring only. because for current to flow circuit must be coplete and i ring with gap circiuit is not copmlete. so solid ring will be ejected due to opposite current induced in it but ring with a gap would not be ejected.
