Two runners, Joe and Jill, are taking part in a relay race. Joe is first and after the pistol fires he accelerates up to his top running speed of 7m/s. He does his circuit of the track and as he approaches Jill from behind he begins to decelerate so he can hand the baton. When he is 10m away he begins decelerating at 4m/s2. After he hands off the baton he continues running at that same speed – to cool down. Jill begins accelerating the moment she gets the baton at a rate of 3m/s2. (a) What is Joe’s speed at the moment he hands off the baton? (b) What is Jill’s speed relative to Joe 3 seconds after she has been handed the baton?

There seems some mistake in given data..... as we can see value of Vf^2 is coming out negative which is not possible. Please let me know the correction in the data.
