Deterime the type of gas contained in a 800mL cylinder it has a wieght of 120grams with the gas at a pressure of 1400 kPa, also determine the mass of this gas if the cylinder is 40 000mL with a pressure of 3200 kPa. Temp of both gases is 25degrees C.

Answer #1

PV=nRT

mol.wt.=120*8.314*298/(1400000*0.8*10-3)

Mol.Wt=265.454gm/mole

Massof the gas=P2V2*mol.wt/TR

                             =3200000*40*10-3*265.454/8.314*298

                              =13714.3gm

                               =13.7143Kg
