George is driving and Benjamin is in the back seat holding a helium-filled balloon. They are driving in a Northerly direction when they hit a curve in the road resulting in an Eastward velocity. This can be explained by Newton's Law of Inertia.

Since, car was moving in northly direction, it has tendency to move in that direction until an external unbalance force is applied to it.When car hit the curve it turns toward east direction but, balloon will continue to move in north direction until the force by the string makes baloon to move in east direction. Inside the car Benjamin will experience that balloon is leaning toward his left since north direction will be on his left side during the changing of direction
