say you were to make a compass using water, needle, a cork, and a magnet at home. will the size of the magnet make it move quicker?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A compass needle moves due to the magnitude of magnetic field created by a magnet.

Now this magnitude of magnetic field depends on

1. Magnetic moment of magnet

2. Distance of needle from magnet's centre point

Now in the above situation factor 2 doesn't change but factor 1 (i.e magnetic moment ) does change

Magnetic moment of a magnet is product of pole strength and the distance between the two poles( i.e. size of magnet).

So increasing size of magnet will increase the magnetic moment and hence alternatively magnetic field .

So it will make the compass needle move faster

For the following, give constructions using a straightedge and a compass with memory. You must prove that your construction works. Construct a circle tangent to two given circles and having a radius equal to the length of a given line segment. Assume that the given line segment is long enough to make this possible.

Let's say that you were going to do an interval on the mean ageof people you should survey to see what they believe about self-driving cars. You want to be 99% confident that the actual mean is within 2.5 years of the population mean. You know that the population standard deviation of the ages is 7.5 years. How large a sample do you need to have? confidence: standard deviation: width: sample size:

Assume that all cash flows (interest payments and net rental payments) were paid and received at the end...
