Electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR) is a branch of spectroscopy in which electrons with unpaired spins, when placed under a magnetic field, absorb electromagnetic radiation to transition from low energy level to high energy level.

IN EPR transition of proton is between two energy level is observed similar to NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance)

IN EPR , the energy difference is primarily due to the interaction between electronic magnetic moments and external magnetic field Due to the magnetic moment, the unpaired electron acts like a tiny magnet in the presence of external magnetic field
