A girl places her face 25.0 cm in front of a mirror. She sees her reflection magnified by a factor of +1.20. What is the radius of curvature of the mirror?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Focal length of the mirror = f

Distance of the girl's face from the mirror = do = 25 cm

Distance of the girl's image from the mirror = di

Magnification of the image = M = +1.2

di = -30 cm

By Mirror Equation,

f = 150 cm

Radius of the curvature of the mirror = R

R = 2f

R = 2(150)

R = 300 cm

Radius of curvature of the mirror = 300 cm
