A cyclist is riding up a hill having a constant slope of 30

A cyclist is riding up a hill having a constant slope of 30

Answer #1

here

The net force on the bike (due to gravity, the normal force, and friction) is zero.

If an object is moving with a constant velocity then the acceleration is zero (acceleration is the change in velocity with respect to a change in time).

From Newton we know that the sum of all forces is mass times acceleration.

If acceleration is zero, the sum of all forces (the net force) must be zero.

F = m * a

and a = 0 therefore

F = 0

then friction force

u = friction

Fr = u * m * a

Fr = 0 ( because a = 0)

A cyclist is coasting at 13 m/s when she starts down a 420 m long slope that is 30 m high. The cyclist and her bicycle have a combined mass of 70 kg.
