A newly designed analog radio is found to require unusually precise fine tuning of the frequency dial to pick up a certain radio station. To create a less-sensitive dial, the radio engineer should

1.increase the Q (quality factor) of the radio circuit.

2.decrease the Q (quality factor) of the radio circuit.

3.decrease the resistance of the radio circuit.

Answer #1

Tuning and selection of a particular frequency requires high value of quality factor. A high value of Q fator can respond to the narror range frequency. Which means a sharp graph will be obtained hence it will make the circuit more selective than before as we need ro decrease the selectivity hence the Q factor will be reduced as per our requirements because lower values of Q will give broad range of frequency which means many frequencies can be obtained hence our answer is option 2.
