Consider the following incline scenario,

A 40 Newton force, parallel to the ground, pushes a 3 kg block as it descends down 65 degree incline. The coefficient of friction is 0.17.

a) what is the block's acceleration?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

a)We have to find the acceleration of the block. The given details in the problem are Ff=40 N,m=3 kg,=65 degree and coefficient of friction =0.17.we know that the block is descending down,so there is two forces acting upwards and downwards. The force acting upwards is Ff=40 N and the force acting downwards is mgx=m*g*sin.we know that the equation for acceleration is a=F/m.Here we have two forces so we can change the equation as given below a=(Ff-m*g*sin)/m=(40-24.3)/3=5.2 m/s

so the acceleration of the block is 5.2 m/s
