Since the moon revolves around the sun.Hence the sun illuminates the moon at different locations and so we do see different phases of moon everyday.Because moon revolves around earthat a period of 28 days. Hence the cycle of phases repeats every 28 days.The phases we see results from the angle the Moon subtends with the sun as viewed from the Earth. As the Moon circles around the Earth, the amount of the lit side we see changes. These changes are known as the phases of the Moon
