A dial-up modem transmits digital data over a voice grade analog phone line which passes a frequency range of 600 Hz to 3000 Hz.
If the dial-up modems use the same Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) method) as a way to maximize the rate at which data can be sent. Based on Nyquist’s therom, do you think it is possible to achieve 24 kbps data transfer rate? If not, what would be your suggestions on improving the QAM method?
