Describe a force arm of a lever?

Describe a force arm of a lever?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A lever is basically consist of three parts as :

1) Fulcrum : It is the point about which liver is pivoted.

2) Effort arm or In liver arm : It is the part of the lever about which a force is applied to balance load.

3)Resistance arm or out lever arm : It is the part of the lever which bears the applied load by applying resistive force.

Sometimes , Effort arm is also called as the Force arm of the lever on which a force is applied to balance applied load on the other side of the pivoted point. Sometimes it is describe in the terms of distance as the it is the distance of point P (from the axis i.e. pivot point O) OP at which force F applied .

The triceps muscle in the back of the upper arm extends the forearm. This muscle in a professional boxer exerts a force of 2231 N with an effective perpendicular lever arm of 3.90 cm, producing an angular acceleration of the forearm of 130.0 rad / s2.
