Machine is a device which converts mechanical energy to electrical energy of vice versa. According to the fradays law 'when there is a change in magnetic flux linking with a conductor there will develop a induced emf proportional to rate of change of flux linking with the conductor'. A mechanical disturbance on the shaft cuses for the change of fluc linking with the windings of generator or an electricity injection produces an net torque on the shaft of motor, both of them are coming under the category machine interchages enery between electrical and mechanical.
