Question

Why does most of the refraction of light occur at the cornea-air interface?

Why does most of the refraction of light occur at the cornea-air interface?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Light hits cornea while entering our eye. The relative Refractive index at the cornea-air interface is maximum than any other interface. Due to maximum change in refractive index at this interface light experience maximum refraction.

According to Snell's Law:

=

=

Difference between and   at cornea-air interface is more than any other interface. So, there will be maximum refraction at this interface.
