Answer #1

Answer: - Cooling devices are categorized as follows 1) air cooling 2) liquid cooling. Cooling devices are less efficient than heat engine. Heat engines are as follows: 1) Not much heat takes place compared to liquid cooling. 2) Not suitable for massive engines. 3) Not suitable for stagnant engines. 4) Need massive fins around the cylinder to increase the surface to enhance heat removal. 5) Less efficient for small engines. 6) Need to build liquid jackets around cylinder to remove heat. 7) Extra equipment like radiator pipes, motor are required.

A Carnot heat engine receives 15 kW of heat at 1200 K and rejects heat at 300 K.   The power produced from the engine is used to drive a reversed Carnot cycle, acting as a refrigerator, where the low temperature is 260 K and the high temperature is 300 K. What is the cooling effect, the amount of heat removed at 260 K, and what is the COPc ? Ans:  6.5     73.125 kW
