A Cessna 150 airplane has a takeoff speed of 20.8 m/s. Determine the minimum length of the runway which would be required for the plane to take off if its acceleration is 1.9 m/s2.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know that initially the aeroplane will be at rest so its initial velocity(u) = 0

It is given that its take off velocity or final velocity (v) = 20.8

Acceleration =1.9.

Now using newton's equation of motion i.e

where v= final velocity

u=initial velocity

a= acceleration

S=distance in meters.

Putting the values we get,

S= 113.85m

Or after rounding off S= 114m

Hence the minimum length of the runway should be 113.85m.

Note that all the values are taken in standard units.
