The reason (s) provided are also true to some extent.There are other reasons for such acts .

Difference being FGM is socially acceptable in certain communities (mostly the places where it is prevalent) while acid attack is not socially acceptable by any means.

In India, acid attack(attack with any corrosive substance) is a crime with minimum punishment of 10 yr to life imprisonment (+monetary support to victim) .There were over 1500 cases reported in 5yr period (2014-19).

Most common perpetrator(s) is jilted lover after denial of proposal or rough break-up .There have been cases where quarrel with a family member led to such heinous act.
