Describe the principal advatages and disadvantages of film photography as a remote sensing technique.

Answer #1

Photography as technique for remote sensing offers the advantage of a greater spatial resolution along with a lower cost than that of a non-photographic system. Photography based technique is highly useful for a single event qualitative descriptions of the field conditions. A qualitative analysis of the photographic imagery is low cost since it does not require extensive image calibration, and the equipment is relatively inexpensive.

Themajor disadvantage of photography as a remote sensing technique is that it can't store the data in a digital form. This makes the calibration a very difficult job in this case.

A remote sensing satellite is initially launched into a circular parking orbit (R = 6500 km). A Hohmann Transfer Orbit (HTO) will be used to place this satellite into its final orbit, which is elliptical with a semimajor axis of 7000 km and an eccentricity of 0.05. As this satellite is part of a co-planar constellation, it must be placed at a specific position in the target orbit (i.e. true anomaly). The initial angle between the satellite and its target...
