A heat engine work by absorbing heat from a source and converting it into mechanical work. Almost all kinds of Mechanical Engines, such as Petrol Engines, Diesel Engines, Steam Engines etc are working in the heat engine principle.

Currently we get majority of our energy from heat engines. And also these type of engines are the most efficient in power production. Whenever there is a heat conversion, there is an application related to heat engine. Power sources including Nuclear Power are the application of heat engine. That is heat engines played a pivotal role in the development current world. So, this engine was not discovered, the world would not have developed as rapidly as it was.
