Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution:-

Given

Pat = 99.0 kpa

a)      Calculate at what depth is the pressure 2 pat?

Density of water = 1000 kg/m3

Density of mercury = 13645 kg/m3

Pressure at depth, h = pressure at top + hdg

2p – at = p at + hdg

P - at = hdg

h = p – at / (dg)

= (99.0)*103 / (103 * 9.8)

= 10.10 m

b)     Calculate depth is the pressure 2 pat

      2p – at = p at + hdg

h = p – at / (dg)

= (99.0)*103 / (13.645 *103 * 9.8)

= 0.7403 m

= 74.03 cm
