Solenoid is a device for producing strong magnetic fields. Here, a cylindrical shaped material is there, over which number of turns of wire are wound in close together. The wires physically touch each other, but not electrically, otherwise it will be just a straight wire.

Now, the field of a solenoid is very similar to a bar magnet.

For ideal one, we neglect field outside the solenoid, but for a real solenoid there is some amount of field outside also.

Also, for ideal one , we take field inside as exactly parallel to cylindrical axis, but for real one field lines are little curved near the ends.

Magnetic field inside a solenoid is given by relation,
