Which ONE of the following statements about the spectrum of X-rays is TRUE? (X) the continuous spectrum arises due to bremsstrahlung processes. (Y) the characteristic lines arise due to inner-shell processes. (Z) the cut-off wavelength is independent of the target material.

Answer #1

In the question all the three statements i.e. X,Y and z all are true.

(X) the continuous spectrum arises due to bremsstrahlung processes. - Continuous spectrum arises due to deceladecele of the electrons hitting the target. This type of radiation is called as bremsstrahlung .

(Y) the characteristic lines arise due to inner-shell processes. - The characteristic line is created when a hole in inner shell, created by a collision event,is filled by an electronic from higher energy shell.

(Z) the cut-off wavelength is independent of the target material. - The cut-off wavelength of continuous X-rays corresponds to maximum energy of electron in X-ray tube.

So all sentences are correct.

Which of the following statements about direct material variances are likely to be true? Differences between the actual production level and budgeted (expected) production level is NOT a reason why direct materials quantity (or efficiency) variances arise. A direct materials quantity (or efficiency) variance can arise due to factors outside the production manager's control A direct materials quantity (or efficiency) variance will arise if the organisation manages to negotiate a better price for its materials compared to what it had...
