At B both crates will have changed vertical position by a distance h of 4m - 1.7m = 2.3 m
The change in kinetic energy will equal the change in potential energy
PE = KE
mgh = ½mv²
gh = v²/2
v = √(2gh)
v = √(2(9.81)2.3)
v = 6.72 m/s

both boxes will be traveling at the same speed. The mass and steepness of slope is not relevant.

(a) 6.72 m/s

ratio of the kinetic energies of heavy box to light box
ratio = KE1/KE2 = ½m1v² / ½m2v² = ½45v² / ½14v²
ratio = 3.21:1
There is 3.21 times more kinetic energy in the 45kg box than in the 14 kg box at the same velocity.
