What is the stress strain relationship?
a. Label the X-axis and Y axis
b. Include the major points on the graph
c. Identify the regions on the graph
d. Show the relative difference between different types of biological materials

Answer #1

Stress strain relation for biological matters:

Biological tissues exhibit large deformation before failure, therefore any transducer used to measure strain will need to accommodate the large movement. Due to the un-crimping of collagen fibers and elasticity of elastin, the initial portion of a biological sample stress-strain curve has a high deformation/low force characteristic known as the toe region. In short, unlike traditional materials this region is non-linear.

Suppose that Ken cares only about bathing suits (B) and flip-flops (F). His utility function is U = B^0.75*F^0.25. The price of bathing suits are $12, and the price of flip-flops are $6. Ken has a budget of $240. (a) (4 points) Draw and label a graph containing Ken’s budget line with bathing suits (B) on the x-axis and flip-flops (F) on the y-axis. Graph the x and y intercepts and determine the slope of the budget line. (b) (4...

A researcher was interested in the relationship between the reported stress level (variable X) and performance on memory test (variable Y). The data collected on a sample of n = 62  undergraduate students produced the following results: MX = 4, SSx = 30, MY = 6, SSY= 90, and SP = - 15 A. Is there a significant correlation between stress level and memory performance? Assume 2-tailed test, p < .05. For full credit your answer should include: Null and alternative...

Sketch a graph of the function h(x)=3/2sec2x by first sketching a graph of y = 3/2cos2x and then drawing the graph of y=h(x) on top of it. [Since you are drawing two graphs on the same set of axes, either use a different color to distinguish between the graphs or make one a dashed curve and the other solid.] Be sure to show work and intermediate steps to demonstrate that you did this WITHOUT a calculator or graphing program. Let X be a normal random variable with ?=−10 and ?=2. Let Z be a standard normal random variable. Draw density plots for both random variables on the same graph. You will want an x-axis that goes from around -20 to around 5. Your y-axis will start at zero and will need go high enough to cover the highest density. Recall that the density of a normal random variable at the point ? with mean ? and standard deviation ?...
