Sound wave 1 has a frequency of 200 Hz in a particular medium. Sound wave 2 has a frequency of 300 Hz in the same medium. By what factor does the speed of sound wave 2 differ compared to sound wave 1
wavelength is depend on the medium in which wave travels so, wavelength is constant for both frequency
v = f λ
v = speed of sound ; f = frequency ; λ = wavelength
for sound wave 1 (v1 = speed of sound wave 1)
v1 = 200 λ
for sound wave 2 (v2 = speed of sound wave 2)
v2 = 300 λ
v2 / v1 = 300λ / 200λ = 1.5
hence , speed of sound wave 2 is 1.5 multiple of speed of sound wave 1
