What is the difference between Type Ia and Type II core collapse supernovae
Type 1a
it is caused by a white dwarf . observationally it have not any hydrogen line. it have strong silicon lines at 615 nm.
it is occurs in closed binary system where two average stars orbit around each other.it is a carbon white dwarf when it collapses into neutron star under the pressure of electron degeneracy
it's light curve have exhibit sharp curve and then gradually decrease.
it is occurs in elliptical galaxy.
Type II
it is caused by collapse of massive star. it is occur in large stars of around 10 solar mass.
it have hydrogen line in their spectra.
it's light curves have less sharp peaks.and decreasing sharply then Type Ia .
it is not occurs in spiral galaxy
