Maxwell boltzman distribution shows the relation between no. of molecules per unit speed and the speed of the particles as shown in the figure.
It form on the basis of kinetic theory of gases and defines the distribution for certain temperature with respect to speed.
In the distribution we take speed as absicca and no. of molecules per speed on ordinate keeping the temperature constant.
From this distribution function we can derive the different speed that is avergae speed , most probable speed and root mean square speed.
