What is the abjective, goal, abstract, and purpose of rotationa kinetic energy lab in physics

Homework Answers

Answer #1

purpose and goal are one and the same thing

Note that as this is a lab based question. You are supposed to do this.

Objective / Purpose / goal of a rotational kinetic energy lab can be - The kinetic energy of rotating disk and falling mass are found. The change in kinetic energy is compared to change in potential energy of the falling mass. These change will be equal in magnitude as per condervation law.

The theory of this lab can be - The energy comes into action when mass falls and due to this the disk rotates with some rotational kinetic energy. If falling height is h, the potential energy lost by falling mass will be mgh. This loss should be equal to kinetic energies gaines by disk and falling mass.

we can write this using conservation

mgh = 1/2mv2 + 1/4MV2

where m is for falling mass and M is for disk

In this lab you measured the kinetic energy of a car (KE, in Joules) at several velocities (m/s). At the beginning of the lab the car was at rest (v = 0 m/s) and had no kinetic energy. At v = 1.0 m/s, the car had KE = 5.1 J. At v = 2.0 m/s, the car had KE = 19.6 J. At v = 3.0 m/s, the car had KE = 45.1 J. Finally, at v = 4.0 m/s,...

Pendulum Lab In a given experiment you measure the maximum kinetic energy of an object Kmax and the maximum potential energy Umax. The potential energy of the reference point is zero. You repeat the experiment using different conditions and acquire a set of values for these two quantities. Draw the expected graph of maximum potential and against maximum kinetic energy for this set of experiments. I'm not entirely sure how to do this problem; would the graph just be energy...
