projectile - a bullet shot horizontally

Given - initial speed in m/s and the distance to a target in meters. (let's say for this example the bullet is shot horizontally at an initial speed of 900m/s at a target that is 140 meters away; additionally, for the value of g we use 9.8 in my class opposed to the flat 10 found within the course text. I, like my instructor, dabble in something called precision, but I'll know what you're talking about either way should you elect to round up yourself.

Problem - How far vertically has the bullet fallen whenever it hits the target? (in cm)

Please provide as much detail as possible in solving the problem. (Initial approach, equation selection, working through the mathematics* and any unit conversion upon achieving the final solution etc..)

Hope I've managed to make sense in my asking of this question. Thanks for your time.
