Would you say that galaxies are closer or further apart relative
to their sizes than stars are? Why? Would you say that stars or
galaxies are more likely to collide with each other than stars?
Why? . Which happens more often big galaxies colliding with other
big galaxies or big galaxies colliding with small ones?
Sorry, I know it's a few questions, but I thought that they are all
very connected. Thank you in advance for the help
relative to their size, galaxies are much closer together than stars. ... The Milky Way is 1021 meters wide, and the Andromeda galaxy is 1022 meters away. So stars are millions of diameters apart, but galaxies are tens of diameters apart
As distances are comparable to their sizes, galaxies aare more likely to collide.
As small galaxies are more common, small galaxies collide with large galaxies frequently. In doing so, large galxies completely absorb the smaller ones.
