A cylindrical tank is full of oil, and has a height of 30 m and a diameter of 80 m. If the oil has a density of 52 lb / ft ^ 3, a- what is the volume of the tank (expressed in [m ^ 3])? b- What is the total mass of the oil (expressed in [kg]) contained in the tank?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Here we have give the following parameters as,

(h) height = 30 m

diameter = 80 m

Radius r= 40m

oil density = 52 lb / ft ^3 = 832.96 kg/m^3

a. The formula for the volume of the tank is given as

Volume (V) = pie × R^2 ×h

On plugging values we will get ,

V = 150796.4474 m^3

Which is our required answer for part a

b. Now for the total mass of the oil we have relation as

Density = mass/ volume

So that

Mass = density × volume = 832.96 × 150796.4474

Mass = 125607408.8 kg

Which is our required answer for part b.
