What are the advancements in high energy physics?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A lot of advancement has taken place in last decade in field of high energy physics.

World's largest and most powerful particle collider LHC near Geneva confirmed the existance of Higgs Boson( elementary particle in the Standard Model of particle physics).Following the discovery of Higgs, a primary scientific goal of high-energy physicists has been to characterize its properties and to discover oher high-energy physics phenomena. It was also reported that quark–gluon plasma (the densest matter thought to exist besides black holes) had been created in the LHC. Recently scientiests conducted a groundbreaking experiment demonstrating a new way of accelerating electrons to high energies i.e. acceleration of electrons in plasma waves. In coming years mystery about Dark matter, string theory, extra dimensions etc may be solved.
