A human ( m=50kg) slides down a ramp inclined at 60 degrees. Determine the acceleration of the human. Assume uk= 0.35. Make sure you indicate positive or negative for acceleration

Homework Answers

Answer #1

forces acting on the human along the plane

1) component of weight acting down the slope

2) friction force acting up the plane

force actin down the plane = mg sin = 50*9.8*sin 60 = 424.35 N

friction force = umg cos = 0.35*50*9.8*cos 60 = 85.75 N

net force acting down the slope = 424.35 - 85.75 = 338.6 N

acceleration = net force / mass = 338.6 / 50 = 6.772 m/s^2

so the acceleration of the human is 6.772 m/s^2 ( down the slope)
