Optics problem. Please provide detailed solution!

For a 4-f system with f1 = f2 = 20 cm, with a rectangular aperture of size 5 mm placed in the center of the mutual focal plane between the two lenses. What is the point spread function of this imaging system when the object is placed at the front focal plane of the first lens?

Answer #1

The Point Spread Function (PSF) plays an important role in the image formation theory of the fluorescence microscope. It is the main brick that builds up the whole acquired image.

Given data:

Mutual focal plane distance = 10 cm

So, distance between lens and N.A is 10 cm.

When first lens is placed on the focal plane of first lens i.e at 20 cm. = object distance =20 cm

The PSF of an optical device is the image of a single point object (rescaled to make its integral all over the space equal 1). The degree of spreading (blurring) in the image of this point object is a measure for the quality of an optical system.

As rays paases throguh NA it gives clear image .PSF will not be blur

Two converging lenses having focal lengths of f1 = 11.4 cm and f2 = 20.0 cm are placed d = 50.0 cm apart, as shown in the figure below. The final image is to be located between the lenses, at the position x = 32.7 cm indicated. On the left, an arrow originating from a long horizontal line points upward and is labeled "Object." A vertical, convex lens, labeled "f1," is centered upon the horizontal line and is positioned a...

Please solve this physics problem from optics course with clear detailed steps. 4(a) Two parallel narrow slits in an opaque screen are illuminated by a normally incident plane wave of wavelength 550 nm. The slits are separated by 0.10 mm. One of the slits is covered with a thin plastic sheet of thickness 50 μm and index 1.420. In what direction do the waves from the two slits interfere with zero phase difference? 4(b) Fringes of equal thickness are observed...
