Which of the following will NOT operate correctly if connected to a circuit that supplies DC current (2 points)?
Transformer
Inductor
Neither device will operate correctly with DC current.
Both devices will operate correctly with DC current.
Explain your answer (2 points).
transformer can not work in DC circuits
For the transformer to work the current in one coil has to somehow make the current flow in the otehr coil and the circuits it is connected to. A DC current in one coil will make a magnetic frield on another coil but a magnetic frield by itself won't drive any electrons around. A changing magnetic field however does create an electric force which will accelerate those electrons in the other coil into carrying a current.
on the other hand, inductor allows dc but not ac.
hope this helps, please rate. Cheers.
