Please explain the meaning of positive and negative Hall effect. thanks in advance.
The Hall effect is the production of a voltage difference i.e. the Hall voltage across an electrical conductor, transverse to an electric current in the conductor and to an applied magnetic field (B)perpendicular to the current.
J = current density
If the current is due to the movement of electrons, it results in negative hall coefficient. This is called negative Hall effect.
If the current is due to the movement of holes, it results in positive hall coefficient. This is called positive Hall effect.
