Initially two positive charges lie on the x-axis: qA is at the origin and qB is at (23.8 cm,0). The electric field created by these charges is zero at (6.13 cm,0).

Now the charge on qA is reversed (from positive to negative). Find the x-coordinate of the point on the x-axis where the electric field is zero now, in cm. Your answer must include the sign of the x-coordinate.

Initially the two charges are positive charges so the neutral point lie between the line joining them if polarity of one charge is reversed the neutral point shifts both sides.

The solution for the two points is given in the image.

Hence the solution is x = 6.13 cmand x = -12.61cm
