A liquid product with 10% product solids is blended with sugar before being concentrated (removal of water) to obtain a final product with 15% product solids and 15% sugar
solids. Determine the quantity of final product obtained from 200 kg of liquid product. How much sugar is required? Compute mass of water removed during concentrations
Given that
The inital product is =200kg
The amount of sugar required is given by =200*(10/100) =20kg
Now the total solid is given by (product solids+ sugar solids)
Then inital product is equal to the final product
(0.20)200kg =0.30( mass of the final product)
Then mass of the final product is (0.20)200kg/0.30 =133.33kg
If the final product is 15% product solids and 15% sugar solids , means amount of product solids should be equal to the sugar solids
Therefore mass of the water removed is 200kg-133.33kg =66.67kg
