Describe house wiring and specify how parallel or series connections of bulbs and resistors affect the functions. Please explain in words

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In general, House wiring is donw such a way that all the bulbs, appliances are in parallel to each other. In simple words, this is important to make sure that each and every appliance can work independently. If appliances are in series, then switching any one of them will switch off all. For example if we combine all the bulbs in a house in series, then if one bulb gets faulty or fused, then all the working bubs will stop workig.

However, in case of parallel wiring, all the remaining bulbs will still work. If we talk about resistors, the parallel combination offers the least resistance which is required for heavy appliances. However, In series combination, resistances add up and restrict the flow of current.

Therefore, In a house wiring, parallel wiring of appliances is always desirable.
