Explain in your own words how a force applied to a car can cause it to accelerate or decelerate. In both cases, indicate the direction of the applied force and the acceleration.

When force is applied on car and car gets accelerate the car moving in forward direction . When we turn on the switch (key) the chemical enery (petrol) convert in mechanical enery and engin start to rotate.Now the force generate due to this is greater than the normal weight(mg) of the car hence when accelerating force greater than the weight of the car then car start to accelerate and car moving in forward direction .
Now decelrate : deceleration means decreasing speed it's happen when you applied brake on car the car start to get decelrate and after some time car get stop
Direction: Direction of both acceleration and decelrate is opposite to each other
2)if you hold book with one hand the normal weight (mg) applied on the book which is balance by the hand reaction it's mean that your hand applied exect equal ammoam of force in opposite direction of weight (mg) and you can hold it ....
