The three examples of motional EMF.
1. Back EMF generated in a DC Motor : When a motor runs due to current passing through the coils, these coils are then moving in a magnetic field which causes it to get an induced EMF, this is opposite to the applied EMF, hence the name Back EMF. This EMF is responsible for reduction in current once the motor starts running.
2. Generator : When the shaft in generators are mechanically rotated, then the coils are moved inside the magnetic field, which causes the generation of a EMF. These kind of devices help in converting mechanical energy to electrical energy.
3. Magnetic Flow Meters : These are used to measure the amount of fluid moving through a pipe (the fluid is conductive). An emf is generated when conductive fluids move in magnetic fields. The magnitude of generated EMF is used to calculate the velocity at which the fluid is flowing.
