An apartment has the dimensions 11 m by 6 m by 4 m. The temperature is 30°C, and the relative humidity is 56 percent. What is the total mass (in kg) of water vapor in the air in the apartment?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know that, the relative humidity can be calculated by measuring ratio of water vapor content and the amount of water vapor required for a saturation at given temperature.

Therefore, the total mass of water vapor in the air which will be given by -

relative humidity = [(total mass of water vapor) / (amount of water vapor for saturation)] x 100%

= (mtotal / msat) x 100%

At T = 30 0C, we have

(0.56) = mtotal / (26.5 g)

mtotal = [(0.56) (26.5 g)]

mtotal = 14.8 g

converting g into kg :

mtotal = 0.0148 kg
