1. The methods used for sharpening the images are:

(i) Sharpening by using High Pass Filters: in this method a set of high pass filtered image is added to the original image to enhance the image, the high pass filter image will only have have high frequency components and when a scaled version of this image is added to the original image, a sharpened image is produced.

(ii) Unsharp Masking: This method is available in digital image processing softwares. In this method a unsharp or blurred negative of original image is used to create a mask. This mask is then combined with the original image, which creates a less blurry image as compared to the original image. (In result this method also amplifies the high frequency components of the image)
