the effect of magnetic fields and the forces that exert on an electron beam were investigated by using a cathode ray tube and a large bar magnet.

when the north pole of the magnet is brought towards the beam from one side the beam moves up. And by repeating this step with the south pole of the magnet, this also will cause the beam to move down.

1- Write a short summary of observation.

2- how Your observation agree with the equation F=qv*B

Answer #1

Force acting on charged particle in magnetic field is given by

1. This force acting on electron velocity of charged particle and magnetic field, the direction of force is given right hand rule. When north pole of bar magnet is towards beam force acting is upwards hence beam deflection is in up. When south pole is towards beam the force acting is on downwards, hence beam deflected in down direction. When we consider both electric field and magnetic forces is decided by lorentz force

2. The motion of electron beam in accordance with aboue law.
