You are asked to do a real experiment based on LAWS OF ENERGY AND MOTION. Create a powerpoint about what you did in the experiment, or write a paper about your experiment. This is not a research paper, this is actually doing an experiment.

Include images of your experiment if you are not submitting a video of the actual experiment. Additional bonus will be available for production quality, more complex experiment, or humorous submissions.

Here are past examples of exemplar experiements that have been submitted in the past. Will your submission be good enough to be part of this years new videos included for the class?

Answer #1

Experiment:

I took a semi-circular bowl made of glass and a a cricket ball. I let the ball roll down the bowl from the top at one end with zero initial velocity and saw its behavior.

I observed that in the first go, ball almost touches the other top end. I also saw that when ball was rolling down the bowl, its speed was increasing, and when it was coming up the bowl, its speed was decreasing. This proves the fact that gravity is pulling the ball downwards due to which this was happening.

Also, I observed its motion for several times, rolling down and up. I saw that after 3-4 go's, it was not reaching to either end. This is due to friction between ball and the glass bowl, and also the room's air drag force. This means that ball's energy was continuously dissipating into surroundings, in form of heat and sound.
