If at one moment an object is moving with an acceleration of 6.8 m/s/s, and the next moment the object is moving with an acceleration of 2.9 m/s/s, is the object still speeding up or is it beginning to slow down? The question is asking whether the object is speeding up, slowing down, or staying the same speed during that instant?
answer: obviously the object is still speeding up during that instant.
accleration is the rate of increase in velocity
so at first its velocity was increasing at 6.8 m/s at each second
after that its velocity was increasing at 2.9 m/s at each second.
so ultimately its velocity is increasing in the 2nd case also...just the rate of increase is less in the 2nd case.
